In this week's Bread of the Week, the FASHION HEADLINE editorial team introduces the breads they're currently catching our eye. For our ninth installment, we're featuring HIMMEL!

HIMMEL is a bakery run by chef Nobuyuki Kanenaga, who trained in Germany. Himmel offers a wide selection of breads, including their signature "German Bread," featuring rich aromas and flavors created with a focus on the deliciousness of the dough. The Ookayama store opened in 2008. Currently, they have three locations in Tokyo (Ookayama, Meguro, and Jiyugaoka), and from August 28th to September 3rd, they are also selling their bread at a pop-up shop at Isetan Shinjuku.

Laogen Croissant (241 yen)
The "Laogen Croissant" is hard to find even in Germany. This popular croissant boasts a rich, salty, and slightly sweet flavor, complemented by the rich flavor of cultured butter. The fragrant sesame seeds topping the bread add an accent to its flavor.

The many layers of dough are carefully woven over time, resulting in a light and crispy texture that's great! It has just the right amount of saltiness, so it's great in sandwiches or as a beer accompaniment.

Vegetable and Cheese Pretzel (361 yen)
When it comes to Himmel, pretzels are a must-have. This time, we'll introduce the "Vegetable and Cheese Pretzel," a sandwich bread made with the classic and popular pretzel. This luxurious dish is made by baking smoked cheese, tomatoes, and pickles on a pretzel. When you put it in your mouth, you can taste the deliciousness of the ingredients. It is so delicious that it far exceeds your imagination of a savory bread made with regular cheese. It is a must-try, especially for those who love smoked cheese. Also recommended as a snack to go with alcohol!
