Échiré Maison du Beurre, a specialty store for Échiré (ÉCHIRÉ), a French fermented butter certified by A.O.P. (Protected Designation of Origin), has released a traditional French dessert to celebrate the New Year, "Échiré Galette des Rois." It will be on sale for a limited time from January 2nd to January 14th, 2019.
Échiré Galette des Rois (approx. 18cm diameter, ¥5,000) *Fève and crown included

The "Galette des Rois" is said to be named after Epiphany, the day the Three Wise Men from the East visited to celebrate the birth of Christ in the New Testament. In recent years, it has gained popularity in Japan as a New Year's treat.
The "Échiré Galette des Rois" is a baked treat made with 100% Échiré butter, wrapped in almond cream and baked. Using the "enverse" method, in which dough is woven into spread butter, the dough is stretched out carefully and firmly, resulting in a delicate, flaky pie texture.
One of the joys of Galette des Rois is the small ceramic object called a "fève." This fève is hidden inside a pie topped with a paper crown. Whoever finds it gets to wear the crown for the day, is blessed by everyone as king or princess, and is said to be blessed with happiness for the year. Inside the "Échiré Galette des Rois," there is an original fève hidden, featuring a cute Holstein cow holding a "ÉCHIRÉ" nameplate.
Why not try the exquisite balance of moist, flavorful almond cream and fragrant Échiré butter pie crust this New Year?
