Kinichi Shoten, a long-established honey shop founded 88 years ago, opened "Kin-iro, a Cream Bun Specialty Shop" in Sanjo, Kyoto, on April 28th. They have begun selling two types of refrigerated cream buns.

These cream buns, designed to allow customers to enjoy honey in a more accessible way, use a generous amount of honey, making up approximately 15% of the cream. The two types of cream buns, "kin・iro (gold)" (250 yen) and "kuro・iro (black)" (500 yen), are made by pouring cream into original bread baked on the second floor of the store and then chilling it. The dough is made using a unique method, and two types have been developed to bring out the best in the filling. "Kuro・Iro" uses rare ingredients, and is baked in a striking black color thanks to the addition of black cocoa powder. Only 50 are sold per day. Both are made with "Hiraya Milk," a Kyoto-produced milk from Hirabayashi Dairy, a local company that produces and sells the entire product. The final touch is the original edible gold leaf "Maiko Seal" from Hori Kinpaku, a long-established company founded in 1711.
 "Kin・Iro (Gold)" (250 yen)
"Kin・Iro (Gold)" (250 yen)
"Kin・Iro" is filled with a special custard cream made with Canadian blueberry honey, known for its rich sweetness and refreshing aroma. The bread dough has been made less sweet to bring out the flavor of the honey custard cream, with a focus on a light and rich texture. This golden cream bun is a blissful treat, made with a focus on honey, allowing you to enjoy the smooth texture and rich, sweet flavor of the cream.
"Kuro・Iro (Black)" (500 yen, limited to 50 per day)
"Kuro・Iro (Black)" (500 yen, limited to 50 per day)
"Kuro・Iro (Black)" (500 yen) is a double-layered cream bun that allows you to enjoy the double flavor of Guatemalan coffee honey custard and rich custard made with Oita-produced "Ranno Eggs." Black cacao is kneaded into the dough, bringing out the richness of the milky custard. The double pairing of the bitter synergy of "cacao x coffee" and the rich sweetness and flavor of "honey x Rannou eggs" adds depth to the flavor of this exquisite, jet-black cream bun.
This shop, opened by a honey specialty store, aims to convey the deliciousness of honey through bread to people of all ages by expanding into a new category that is highly relevant to everyday life. It is a recommended item for all occasions, from locals to tourists, as a gift that suits anyone or a snack to enjoy while walking around town.
