Hollister arrives in Japan. Opens at LaLaport Yokohama. The concept is a shop on a beach pier.

Sep 13, 2013

The first Japanese store of Hollister, a sister brand of Abercrombie & Fitch, will open at LaLaport Yokohama on the 14th. The approximately 620-square-foot store is divided into six sections. Two sections are dedicated to denim, while two are dedicated to relaxed wear, including sweatshirts. Hollister's target age group is younger than Abercrombie & Fitch's, between 16 and 22, so the men's section is called "Dudes" and the women's section is called "Bettys." The "lounge" section in the center of the store will also be divided into two sections. Displayed with a surfboard collection and featuring comfortable sofas under a luxurious chandelier, the space evokes the image of a California beach house, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The store offers a lineup of body care products and fragrances, including the "Southern California" fragrance (large: 7,890 yen, small: 5,490 yen). Large LED screens are also installed on all four sides of the store, showing footage of Huntington Beach in Southern California. "When you look out from the lounge, the video production will make you feel like you're standing on a pier suspended over the beach," says a PR representative. "This is the store's biggest feature and focal point right now." The footage was filmed the day before in the United States. A different video will be shown each day. The store design was handled by the same American design team as in the home market. The reason for choosing LaLaport Yokohama as the location for the first Japanese store was explained as follows: "Yokohama is a city with global appeal. We chose this location because of its easy access." Men's sizes are S, M, and L, and women's sizes are XS, S, M, and L. Prices range from 2,000 yen for cut and sewn items, 6,000 yen for denim, and 10,000 yen for outerwear. Lifeguards from various countries are standing at the entrance to the store, and you can take commemorative photos with them.
