The Japanese edition of international fashion magazine Harper's BAZAAR will be relaunched by Hearst Fujingaho on September 20th. The editor-in-chief is Akiko Mori, former editor-in-chief of ELLE Japon. The inaugural issue will have a print run of 82,000 copies, priced at 780 yen. The content will be a mix of pages exclusive to Japan and pages translated into Japanese from Harper's BAZAAR in the US and other countries. The inaugural issue will feature a fashion story shot by editor Carine Roitfeld, who became global fashion director last year, with designer Karl Lagerfeld, as well as a "BAZAAR & Me" section that offers a glimpse into the true faces of famous designers. The target audience is primarily women in their 30s to 50s. The magazine is aimed at mature women seeking to refine their intellect and sensibilities, with "Fabulous" as its keyword. An event will also be held to commemorate the launch. A special display will be set up on the second and third floors of the Isetan Shinjuku store from the 25th to September 30th. To celebrate the store's 80th anniversary, a special exhibition will also be held looking back on the magazine. Starting at 6:00 PM on the 27th, a "Harper's BAZAAR night in ISETAN" event will feature a talk by a special guest, live painting, and a model walk. In addition to the event, a magazine-produced corner, "Shop BAZAAR," will open on Isetan's e-commerce site, "I ONLINE," on the 20th. From October 11th to 13th, preview screenings of fashion films will be held at TOHO Cinemas in Roppongi Hills. A different film will be screened each day. Scheduled screenings include the Carine Roitfeld documentary "Mademoiselle C." The inaugural issue will include a special bonus: a collection of the magazine's best covers from its launch in the United States to the present. Starting in January, the magazine will be published bimonthly. It is released on the 20th of every odd-numbered month.
