PIERRE HERME PARIS, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the opening of its first store in Tokyo, has unveiled its new fall/winter sweets. The theme is "La Vie est Belle" (Life is Beautiful). The shop unveiled new products, including the "Fétish Ispahan" series of cakes with rose, raspberry, and lychee flavors, the "Fétish Infiniment Café" made with two types of coffee beans, and macarons and chocolates. Hermé is also collaborating with French artist Bernard Quentin this year, creating a Christmas cake called "Buche la Vie et Belle," inspired by Quentin's work, available exclusively at the Isetan Shinjuku store. At the end of the year, the brand will also release a New Year's galette called "Galette au Riollée et Caramel," featuring Quentin's original fève (a miniature ceramic cake). On the 12th, a party celebrating Hermé's 15th anniversary was held at the French ambassador's residence. Hermé is known for its proactive collaborations with various creators and brands, and this time, floral artist Azuma Makoto was in charge of the venue's decorations. Azuma commented, "I have long admired Hermé for his unique sensibility and innovative style, which allows him to create unprecedented works. This time, I actually tasted Hermé's sweets, interpreting their color, appearance, and taste, and incorporating them into my floral art. Just like the sweets that disappear once you put them in your mouth, the flowers in the venue were intentionally left unwatered so that they would wither after two hours. We also added an orchestral performance, and we were able to express the world of Hermé not only through flowers, but also through time and sound."
Furthermore, Richard Ledu, Pierre Hermé Paris' representative in Japan, said, "For the past 15 years since our first boutique opened in Tokyo, we have always had the energy and ambition of an adolescent child, and have continued to move forward despite occasional setbacks. The same members have worked hard together since the start, and as a result, I believe we have been able to spread the genre of haute patisserie (high-end confectionery) from Tokyo to the world and establish the Pierre Hermé Paris brand."
Hermé has a variety of upcoming developments planned, including a collaborative cafe with French car manufacturer Renault, the opening of the Ritz-Carlton Kyoto in February, a collaboration with Japanese designer Hara Kenya, and the release of a book.
