As part of the Daimaru Kobe store's 30th anniversary of surrounding store development, "THE CELLAR AT FRED SEGAL," the first restaurant in the Kansai region and one of the largest in Western Japan, will open in the former foreign settlement in Kobe on March 26th. This restaurant, the first in the Kansai region by Fred Segal, a lifestyle shop born on the American West Coast, will feature one of the largest selections of California wine in Western Japan. The wine cellar can hold up to 1,048 bottles, and will offer over 200 varieties. The lineup ranges from the famous Opus One to expensive wines costing hundreds of thousands of yen per bottle, to unique wines like "Marilyn Merlot," whose label features a nostalgic scene from a Hollywood movie starring Marilyn Monroe. The menu is overseen by chef Toru Wachi of Mardi Gras, located in Tokyo's Ginza district, the meat mecca, and features Wachi's beloved California cuisine. While meat dishes are the main focus, the menu also features vibrant and healthy dishes incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables reminiscent of the West Coast. The restaurant will also feature THE CELLAR's original bread, developed in collaboration with Pan Deuce, a popular bakery in Honmachi, Osaka. The restaurant's lunch menu is open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and offers four options: pasta lunch, sandwich lunch, THE CELLAR hamburger lunch, and special lunch. Four special sweets are available during tea time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Dinner, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, features juicy and hearty meat dishes such as T-bone steak, Tajima beef, and Kobe pork.
