Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will be hosting "Sakadokoro Nabegoya 2020," a winter food festival featuring local hotpot dishes from all over Japan, in the Event Plaza from January 17th to February 2nd, 2020.

Now in its fifth year, this winter food festival allows visitors to enjoy piping hotpot in an open space overlooking the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and the sea during the bitterly cold season. The specially constructed tent at the Nabegoya venue is adorned with numerous red lanterns and plays Showa-era pop songs, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. This time, the event will run for 17 days. The venue will feature the "Cook Your Own Hot Pot Area," which serves piping hot pot cooked in earthenware pots, and the "Ippai Nabe Area," where you can choose from a single pot and enjoy comparing different dishes. The "Cook Your Own Hot Pot Area" will feature hot pots made with carefully selected dashi stock so that you can experience the umami flavor with all five senses. There will also be a wide variety of ingredients, such as "Ishikari Nabe," in which the umami of Hokkaido seafood seeps into your body, "Duck Nabe," which uses Iwate Prefecture's Iwate mochi, and "Oyster Nabe," in which the flavor of oysters permeates your body.
The "Ippai Nabe Area" will feature 15 restaurants and sweet shops where you can try local hot pots from all over Japan, allowing you to enjoy a "hot pot hopping" experience. The recommended dish is the "Kiritanpo Hot Pot, a specialty of Akita Prefecture's Odate City!", with all ingredients delivered directly from Akita Prefecture. Other dishes on offer range from classic hot pots to unique creations, including the "Tomato Cream Hot Pot," packed with savory flavors made with Hokkaido seafood and vegetables. Also available is a "Hot Pot x Sake" pairing set created by certified sake sommelier Aki Takada. The lineup includes over 100 brands, including sake that's hard to find in the Kanto region. The "Choi-nomi Set" and "Choi-nomi & Snack Set," which were popular last time, allow you to compare different sakes, and are available in limited quantities of 150 sets each on weekdays and 300 sets each on weekends.

In addition, during the event, shops within the building will be selling goods and food related to hot pot and alcohol. Why not spend some quality time enjoying hot pot, the true joy of winter?
