AKOMEYA TOKYO releases "Spicy Rice Base" in collaboration with a famous curry restaurant, offering three varieties that go well with Japanese rice

Apr 23, 2020
AKOMEYA TOKYO has released a new line of "Spice Rice Mixes" that are perfect for Japanese rice. The new products are a collaboration between the chefs of renowned curry restaurants Delhi, Nile Restaurant, and Sitar Indian Cuisine, and offer new rice accompaniments.

These new "Spice Rice Mixes" are designed with spices in mind to complement "Japanese rice." Each one boasts a rich, delicious flavor, created by chefs from renowned restaurants. Enjoy them with plain rice, tossed in pasta, spread on bread, or sprinkled on salads—they're a great way to enjoy them in a variety of ways.

Saba Coriander in Collaboration with "Delhi"

AKOMEYA Tokyo x Delhi, Rice Mix "Saba Coriander" (850 yen)
Since its founding in 1956, "Delhi" has been serving curry that is suited to the Japanese climate and palate, without compromising on Indian flavors, and that you'll never get tired of eating every day. We collaborated with this renowned restaurant to create a rice mix that combines the umami of mackerel, the aroma of coriander, and the punch of mustard oil, while still maintaining a nostalgic flavor.

Inspired by "Fish Bholta" (a dish made by mashing and mixing fish), a local dish of the fish-loving people of Bengal, this dish is made by simmering shredded mackerel in oil with coriander, mustard oil, and spices. Soy sauce is added as a secret ingredient to bring the flavor together, and it is made to match Japanese rice and seaweed. It also tastes great on rice balls.

Vinegar Pork in Collaboration with Nile Restaurant

AKOMEYA TOKYO x Nile Restaurant, Rice Base "Vinegar Pork" (980 yen)
Nile Restaurant, Japan's oldest Indian restaurant, opened in 1949 as the country's first authentic Indian restaurant. This famous restaurant collaborated with us on a rice base inspired by pork bean daloo, a local dish from Goa, where the current third-generation chef, Yoshimi Nile, trained.

The newly released "Vinegar Pork" is finished with a flavor that combines the sweetness of onions, the richness of simmered pork with spices, and the sweetness and richness of black vinegar and mirin. The fat from the pork matches perfectly with the hot rice, and the subtle aroma of spices makes it so delicious you won't be able to stop eating! Be sure to give it a try.

Tamarind Furikake in Collaboration with "Indian Restaurant Sitar"

AKOMEYA TOKYO x INDIAN RESTAURANT Sitar, Rice Spread "Tamarind Furikake" (980 yen)

Indian Restaurant Sitar, located in Kemigawa, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, has been in business since 1981. This renowned restaurant, known for its butter chicken curry, a popular dish since its founding, as well as chicken and mutton curries inspired by South Indian recipes, has collaborated with the restaurant to create a rice sprinkle-style seasoning made primarily from tamarind, a fruit renowned for its high nutritional value.

Made without any animal ingredients, this flake-type furikake has a deep flavor, combining the richness of soy sauce, roasted cashew nuts, the aroma of sesame, the mellow sweetness of coconut, and a mix of spices. It's a revolutionary new type of furikake that offers new discoveries with every bite.
