The Salon du Chocolat 2020, an event that has been held many times over, attracts many visitors not just for Valentine's Day gifts but to savor the charm of chocolate, has been announced. 112 brands will be exhibiting at Salon du Chocolat 2020, 20 of which are new to the event.
"Chouxette" (8 pieces, price TBA) by new brand "TOURBILLON BY YANN BRYS"

The theme of the Tokyo event is "Encounters." Mano Shigeo, buyer for Salon du Chocolat, explained the intention behind this, saying, "There are many different types of 'encounters', such as encounters with ingredients and encounters with people, and I believe that this is what allows today's creators to express their individuality," and he said that the traditional selection box is the best place to reflect this.

The selection boxes, created with an understanding of 'encounters', come in three types: "Recontre - Encounter" with 16 pieces, "Hommage - Hommage" with 12 pieces, and "Harmonie - An Encounter in a Single Piece" with 8 pieces. Each piece is made by a different chocolatier, making for a spectacular collaboration.

Among the new brands, the ones that stand out are those that do not have physical stores. "Frank Haasnoot & Tom van de Veen" is a collaboration between Frank Haasnoot, a Dutch chocolate maker who won the World Chocolate Masters in 2011, and Tom van de Veen, who has also created custom chocolates for five-star hotels and the Dutch royal family. The "Chocolate Assortment" (8 or 12 pieces, price to be determined) contains four pieces of each of the two chocolates, making this a collaboration that can only be enjoyed here.
"Bonbon Chocolat" by "TADASHI NAKAMURA" (9 pieces, 3,900 yen)

A Japanese pastry chef active in Paris will also be opening a store under his own eponymous brand. Tadashi Nakamura, who currently oversees the pastry department at "Paris Dassai Joel Robuchon," will be making his debut with his private brand, "TADASHI NAKAMURA." "Bonbon Chocolat" (9 pieces, 3,900 yen) includes a set of bonbon chocolates made with sake.
This year, there will once again be an eat-in corner available only within the venue, and many sweets that can only be eaten at Salon du Chocolat will be on sale.
As with last year, the venue will be the event hall on the basement floor of the Shinjuku NS Building, and the general public period will be from January 27th to February 2nd, 2020. The day before, January 26th, 2020, will be a preview day for MI Card members. To reduce congestion, admission tickets will be sold in advance, and as with last time, same-day tickets will also be sold. Details such as advance ticket reservations will be announced on the official website around November 20th.
