The Kyoto Bread Festival at Kamigamo Shrine, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto, will be held for two days on October 13th and 14th. Famous hotels and popular bakeries from Kyoto, the city of bread, will be participating.

This event, which first took place in 2015 as part of the celebrations for the Shikinen Sengu (yearly reconstruction) of Kamigamo Shrine, is now in its fourth year. This year, you can once again enjoy the collaboration between Kyoto's proud "shrine" and the "bread" beloved by the people of Kyoto. Ande in Kyoto's Fushimi Ward will be introducing "Plain Danish." The moist texture and natural sweetness of Danish bread will fill your mouth. Yellow Deli Bakery in Ukyo Ward, making its first appearance, will be selling "Maple Fruit Bread," which won second prize at the 2018 Bread Grand Prix and is made with French bread dough kneaded with plenty of aged fruit.

The Westin Miyako Kyoto in Higashiyama Ward will be introducing "Bacon and Black Olive Focaccia," which combines the salty and savory flavor of bacon with the flavor of black olives, as well as three other types of focaccia. Also making its debut as a hotel in Higashiyama Ward, the Hyatt Regency Kyoto will be offering the "Marron Croissant d'Amande," a baked croissant sandwich of vanilla-flavored chestnut cream and candied chestnut paste. It's finished with a rum-scented almond dough. Nakamuraya Sozai Seisakusho, also making its debut in Ukyo Ward, will be introducing the "Nakamuran Beef Cutlet Sandwich," a creation of a long-established butcher in Kyoto's Arashiyama district. The key feature is the tender cutlet, sliced domestic beef, prepared in a mille-feuille style. Other items on the menu include the "Kakushoku" (square crust) from Kyoto Ippondo, also making its debut; the "Spinach Butter and Mayonnaise Egg Sandwich" from Higuchi Kinshodo, which has been in business for over 80 years; the "Kyoto-style Rolled Egg Sandwich - Kujo Negi" from Shizuya Honsha; and the "Matcha Baguette" from Wakayama's Maison Fleurille. Don't miss the "Iki Beef Curry Bread" from Pan Plus' main store on Iki Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, which has decided to open a stall at the last minute.
In addition to bread, Inoda Coffee, a famous long-established coffee shop in Kyoto, will also be setting up a stall, and the event will also feature raffles and other activities for children. Why not try this unique collaboration between delicious bread and Kyoto's oldest shrine?
