Aman Kyoto's Afternoon Tea Gets Holiday Style: "Christmas in New York" Launches

Aman Kyoto (Jugencho, Okitayama, Kita Ward, Kyoto) will be offering a limited-time afternoon tea, "Christmas in New York," inspired by Aman New York, which is scheduled to open in 2022, from December 1st to December 31st. The sweet lineup is sure to bring a smile to your face, including the sweet and sour "Santa Claus Hat" to get you in the Christmas spirit, the "Big Apple" named after New York City's nickname, and the classic "NY Cheesecake." Savory dishes include a twist on "Eggs Benedict," said to have originated in New York, and adorable miniature versions of "hot dogs," a local "soul food." Enjoy a selection of over 20 teas, each individually handcrafted in Aman Kyoto's kitchen and pastry workshop. Enjoy a delightful afternoon tea reminiscent of the glittering lights of New York.

Executive Pastry Chef Hiroyuki Matsuo


He started his career as a confectioner in 1984. In 2011, he was appointed executive pastry chef at a luxury hotel in the Kansai region, where he oversees dessert buffets, shops, weddings, banquets, afternoon teas, and more. In addition to creating creative sweets, he has successfully completed numerous projects, including training for new overseas hotel openings and collaborating with renowned luxury brands. As a confectioner, he specializes in creating displays and has won numerous awards in decoration and confectionery contests. Since the hotel's opening in 2019, he has served as executive pastry chef at Aman Kyoto, developing all of the hotel's pastries, including those for The Living Pavilion by Aman and takeout. He is in charge of the sweets for afternoon tea. With his solid technical skills and overflowing creativity cultivated over more than 30 years of experience, he continues to offer innovative sweets that are both visually appealing and delicious, unique to Aman Kyoto.
