Isetan Shinjuku will be hosting the fragrance festival "ISETAN Salon de Parfum" from November 18th to 23rd at the event venue on the 7th floor of the main building. This year marks the third annual event, and the theme will be "Scent, Vibrancy, and Soul." The event will propose a "Scent Closet." So, what exactly is the "Scent Closet"? We spoke with Assistant Buyer Ohno, who is in charge of cosmetics at Isetan Mitsukoshi. "This time, the concept was to 'connect fashion and fragrance.' Many customers on our fragrance floor value discovering new scents and enjoy fragrances freely. In other words, rather than being tied to one scent, many of them choose from several they own to suit their mood that day. For these customers, we wanted to encourage them to 'change their scents just like they change their clothes,' and we came up with a plan that ties together fashion, lifestyle, and fragrance," he said. This Salon de Parfum will feature even more enjoyable catalogs and events. First up is the catalog. The portable brick-colored booklet opens with a chart that guides you through four styles and introduces the fashion styles and fragrances that best suit you. The first, "EFFORTLESS CHIC," offers relaxed yet stylish scents from brands like Atelier Cologne and Carthusia. The second, "SWEET and HAPPY," offers happy fragrances that evoke a romantic mood, including Stella McCartney and Lanvin. The third, "NEW MANNISH," offers dignified and smart scents from Oryza Louis Legrand and Diptyque for when you want to feel confident. Finally, "ULTRA FEMININE" features Jimmy Choo and L'Artisan Parfum, paired with luxurious dresses that celebrate love and life. While suggesting these scents, the event will also provide an opportunity to think about "how to wear fragrance."
One event worth noting in particular is the "Fragrance Talk Event with Noriko Maeda," who will assume the important role of fragrance ambassador for 2015 (November 21st, from 11:30am and 3pm, each session lasting approximately 30 minutes). Maeda Noriko, who is widely loved and nicknamed "Maenori," will be holding a talk show about this season's fashion trends and the appeal of fragrance. In addition, the venue will offer the opportunity for fragrance enthusiasts to receive advice from a fragrance stylist, as well as a name engraving service in alphabetical order, which will be a delight for fragrance enthusiasts.
As for the highlights of this event, Assistant Buyer Ohno said, "We are preparing an early release of Elie Saab, a brand that has not yet been launched in Japan. I hope that people will come and experience the Elie Saab scent created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. In addition, this time we will be offering carefully selected items from around 35 brands, including Guerlain, Tom Ford Beauty, and Burberry, so I'm sure it will be a fun space for fashion lovers as well."
