POLA GINZA to reopen as a global flagship store on December 12, 2025. A journey of "latent aesthetic sense" guided by architecture, sound, light, and fragrance.

Sep 8, 2025
POLA will reopen its global flagship store, "POLA GINZA," in the heart of Ginza on December 12, 2025. Embodying the brand philosophy of "Science. Art. Love," the space will transcend mere cosmetics sales and become a cultural hub designed to awaken people's "latent aesthetic sense." The experience will be brought to life through a multi-layered expression of architecture, sound, light, and fragrance, and with the participation of four leading artists—Kazuyo Sejima, Keiichiro Shibuya, Shozo Toyohisa, and Kan Izumi—it will be elevated to a one-of-a-kind, comprehensive art space.

Floor Information—Be lured into the forest and experience a journey into its depths
Stepping into the first floor, visitors are greeted by an iconic space known as "Flora Forest." A forest of imperfectly symmetrical heptagonal pillars connects the inside and outside worlds while harboring a fluctuation that nurtures life. Soft light pours in from the walls, and soothing sounds combine to transform the space into an ever-changing space, like a once-in-a-lifetime piece of art. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this space encourages self-reflection, and new encounters with POLA products await. This organic world continues on to the basement floor. In the private aesthetic salon, treatments are offered to liberate the body and mind while surrounded by light and fragrances reminiscent of sunlight filtering through the trees and the warmth of the earth. Using Pola Chemical Industries' proprietary "Resense Scan" technology, the condition of the face is visualized. Treatments begin with a consultation tailored to your mood and physical sensations. The treatment then continues with facial care using an original mask, body warming using radio waves, and a foot bath, leading to a truly relaxing experience. This is where the journey to your "latent sense of beauty" begins, where you'll experience alternating soothing stimulation and deep relaxation, as if embraced by nature.

"Flora Forest" by Kazuyo Sejima

The architecture was designed by world-renowned Pritzker Prize-winning architect Kazuyo Sejima. Known for designs such as the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and the Louvre-Lens, she has pursued forms that blur the boundaries between urban and natural. For this project, heptagonal columns have been organically arranged to bring a "forest" into the heart of Ginza. The architecture itself is both a sculpture and a spatial installation, quietly responding to visitors.

Sound Installation by Keiichiro Shibuya

The sound was designed by composer Keiichiro Shibuya, who has bridged the gap between technology and art. Having attracted attention for his AI-based works and the opera "THE END," he has incorporated "breathing sounds" into this space. The sounds, which change over time, blend into the architecture and resonate with the movements and presence of visitors. The senses of sight and sound overlap, creating an immersive experience that evokes the rhythm of nature amidst the city.

Shozo Toyohisa's "Poetry of Light"

Lighting designer Shozo Toyohisa has embedded soft light within the hard materials, giving the space a sense of time and depth. The light continues to change while blending with the architecture, gently stirring the senses of visitors. Toyohisa's light, layered with Sejima's architecture and the sounds of Shibuya, elevates the space to a more poetic and intimate one.

"Traces of Fragrance" by Izumi Kan

Perfumer Izumi Kan is a creator known for his unique scents rooted in nature and memory. Here, he has created scents that do not make a strong statement, but rather scents that float quietly through the space, leaving a "trace" that is etched into the mind and body. By combining with light and sound, the scent goes beyond a simple olfactory experience and lingers in the minds of visitors as a memory of the space itself.

Aesthetic Sense Breathed into the Next-Generation Flagship
POLA GINZA was born as a new symbol of Ginza, and as a stage for sharing Japanese aesthetic sense with the world. The four leading artists, Kazuyo Sejima, Keiichiro Shibuya, Shozo Toyohisa, and Kan Izumi, have come together to create a comprehensive work of art that weaves together architecture, sound, light, and fragrance. The experience here goes beyond a simple retail experience; it will be remembered for generations to come as an attempt to renew culture itself.
