Jo Malone London's new cologne uses the world's most precious fragrances

Nov 9, 2015

On December 26th, Jo Malone London will release two new fragrances in its "Cologne Intense" series. "Incense & Cédrat Cologne Intense" (100ml, ¥20,000) recreates the scent of Omani frankincense, a rare and precious ingredient. Frankincense is harvested from the Boswellia sacra tree in the Dhofar region, a land sandwiched between the sea and the desert. Because Boswellia sacra has become endangered in recent years, this fragrance was created using nature printing technology, which produces extracts and essential oils from the resin, analyzes them in a laboratory, and then has a master perfumer recreate the scent using natural ingredients. The fragrance begins with the refreshing scent of lemon and pepper emanating from elemi (a tropical tree). The scent emphasizes the sensuality of incense, including frankincense, while the sweet incense accentuates the richness of the base notes. The resinous scent is matched by the brightness of cedrat, and a sparkling citrus twist adds a twist.

"Oris & Sandalwood Cologne Intense" (100ml, 20,000 yen) is a dual-faceted fragrance that is woody yet powdery, floral yet deep. Creamy sandalwood and sensual amber envelop the woody scent of orris.
