Kihachi Cafe introduces new strawberry and matcha sweets that will fill you with the scent of spring

Release Date:2021.03.01
Mar 1, 2021
Kihachi Cafes nationwide, operated by SAZABY LEAGUE Co., Ltd., will be releasing four new, unique sweets themed around strawberries and Uji matcha starting from March 1st, including "Strawberry and Matcha Shortcake" and "Strawberry and Matcha Macaron with Vanilla Ice Cream."

In the four ever-popular categories of "Shortcake," "Macaron," "Parfait," and "Pie," new sweets themed around sweet and tart strawberries and Uji matcha have been created, with a Kihachi-style essence added, to create a spring-like fragrance. Among them, we especially recommend the "Strawberry and Matcha Shortcake" and "Strawberry and Matcha Macaron with Vanilla Ice Cream," which are limited-edition sweets that will be available in relay style during the first and second halves of the Strawberry and Matcha Fair.

The "Strawberry and Matcha Shortcake," which will be available in the first half, is a dish that allows you to feel the essence of KIHACHI, combining "strawberry shortcake" with Japanese ingredients. The main ingredient is Uji matcha, which is known for its rich aroma and subtle bitterness and umami, and is complemented by the elegant sweetness of "ogura bean paste" and the rich flavor of "brown sugar syrup," creating a Japanese flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet and sour strawberries.

The "Strawberry and Matcha Macaron with Vanilla Ice Cream," which appears in the second half of the menu, is a matcha macaron baked individually in-store, sandwiched between crème au vour* that contains matcha, and hidden sweet and sour raspberry jelly and fresh strawberries. This large macaron decorated with strawberries is best enjoyed with a knife and fork.
* Crème au Lour: A rich cream made by carefully mixing egg whites and granulated sugar with a butter base
