Longchamp's iconic collection is inspired by the brand's origins, such as "green" and "horses."

Release Date:2020.06.16
Jun 10, 2020
Founded in Paris, France in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, Longchamp is a maison brand that combines modern luxury with creativity and dynamism. The brand will be releasing "Green Light" worldwide on June 16, 2020, highlighting the maison's identity, such as "green" and "horses," elevating the collection into an iconic collection. In Japan, the collection will be available at "Longchamp La Maison Omotesando," "Longchamp La Maison Ginza," select stores, and the official online store, before gradually expanding nationwide.

"Green Light" features two colors that tell the story of Longchamp's history, "Vert Héritage" and "Vert Lumière", as well as the "Longchamp Horse". The dark green "Vert Héritage" was inspired by the grass of Longchamp Racecourse painted by Turenne Chevallerot in 1951, and represents the quality and expertise of "Made by Longchamp", which Longchamp is proud of, and the savoir-faire that has been passed down through generations of artisans. The colors, which are packed with the Maison's heritage spanning more than 70 years, symbolize timelessness, foresight, and family, while evolving. The light green "Vert Lumiere" represents a breath of new life born from the good old, like the fresh greenery that sprouts in spring, bringing freshness and dynamism to Longchamp's traditions. The "Longchamp Horse" is the brand's symbol and a catalyst for creativity. The two colors, "Vert Heritage" and "Vert Lumiere," reflect Longchamp's tradition and vitality, its attitude of staying current with the times while preserving the values that have been with the brand since its founding, and the "Longchamp Horse" brings lively energy.

Sophie Delafontaine, granddaughter of the founder and creative director of the Maison, said, "Longchamp symbolizes the many lives connected by the values passed down in our family. I have always associated green with those values and strong bonds. Green is our identity, our bonds, and the source of light. Longchamp is with life, love, and the light that shines on us."

"Green Light" (only a portion is shown below)
This new collection, in which the "green" and "horse" that are Longchamp's DNA are sublimated into an iconic collection, will be released sequentially from Tuesday, June 16th. In addition, iPhone cases featuring the graphic monogram launched in 2019 will also be released. The monogram, designed with the nine letters of "LONGCHAMP," embodies Longchamp's contemporary yet long-loved global identity, as well as the Longchamp spirit of incorporating playfulness and adventure into life through fashion.

[About Longchamp]
Founded in Paris, France in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, Longchamp is a maison brand that combines modern luxury with creativity and dynamism. Originating from the world's first luxury leather-wrapped pipes, made with hand-stitched leather, the brand continues to inspire the modern Longchamp woman while adhering to its 70-year heritage. Longchamp has created iconic and timeless bag collections embodied in French savoir-faire, such as the origami-inspired "Le Pliage®" bag, launched in 1993, and the striking "Roseau" bag with its bamboo toggle. Today, under Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine and in collaboration with brand ambassador Kendall Jenner, Longchamp reinterprets French elegance with ready-to-wear, as well as bags, accessories, shoes, eyewear, and travel gear for both men and women, each season. Continuing its family-run tradition, Longchamp remains owned and operated by the Cassegrain family, with over 300 directly operated boutiques in 80 countries worldwide. In Japan, Longchamp La Maison Ginza opened in July 2019, and now has 52 stores, including the flagship La Maison in Omotesando and Ginza (as of December 2019). Furthermore, Longchamp, which values craftsmanship based in its atelier in Segre, France, has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage company by the French government since 2007.
