Longchamp presented its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, "AT THE RACES: SUNDAY AT THE HIPPODROME," during Paris Fashion Week.

In 1948, the Maison's founder, Jean Cassegrain, combined the Longchamp racecourse, home to Paris's oldest windmill, with his own surname, Cassegrain (casser le grain, French for "the miller"), to found the leather goods Maison Longchamp. This season, Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine, Delafontaine's granddaughter, returned to the House's roots at the racetrack, capturing the vibrant atmosphere of a modern Parisian Sunday. The collection features 35 looks that combine the sporty, casual-chic spirit of equestrianism with a twist of warm materials.

Sunday at the racetrack – jockeys, spectators, and owners are the stars of this season. In the stables, rigor and perfectionism are the watchwords, as carefully selected horses and jockeys steadily and confidently prepare for their races, while keeping their excitement in check. Jockeys stride about in rain boots emblazoned with the "Longchamp Horse."
This season, the riding boot-inspired boots can be customised with leather straps that evoke the colours of the horse's tack and stable. At the races, jockeys wear their "cazacs," whose colours and patterns vary depending on the stable. Taking a page from the jockeys who thrill the arena, looks include black and white checkered sweaters, leggings and dresses, heavy long knit dresses emblazoned with the "Longchamp Horse," and bomber jackets with diagonal stripes.

We will also be releasing the Le Pliage(R) Cazac, which incorporates the vibrant colors of the races into its design, including maroon, sky blue, orange, red, grass green, yellow, and pink, as well as a new model of Epurée, inspired by the case of binoculars, an essential accessory for watching races.

A diverse crowd gathers near the stables, from veteran gamblers clutching racing papers to families enjoying the atmosphere in the stands and on the track. Everyone is relaxed and cheerful. Among them are racing fans opting for the Maison's return to classic sailing stripe vests and peacoats. Others opt for more feminine looks, like pantsuits paired with ruffled blouses or long taffeta dresses layered with stand-collar leather jackets. The new "Box-Trot" baguette-shaped model, nestled against a flowing taffeta long dress, creates a sophisticated, contemporary silhouette. The "Box-Trot" also comes in bold seasonal colors: cobalt blue and grass green.

Following the jockeys and spectators, horse owners strut through the paddock. They look dandy in straight-cut flannel pants and shawl-collar blazers. Tennis stripes are a key theme in the collection, embodying its chic, sporty spirit.

A warm colour palette of plum, corn and mahogany, as well as camouflage patterns, complement chic and sporty pieces such as shearling coats, blousons and vests, structured coats with colour-blocked panels, stand-collar jackets in quilted flannel or leather, and cargo trousers. High boots in black or tobacco brown with contrasting technical laces are perfect for winter and adventure looks. A velvety corduroy baseball cap completes the look.

Longchamp Autumn/Winter 2023 Collection “AT THE RACES: SUNDAY AT THE HIPPODROME” – The racecourse is a place where the passion of spectators and sports professionals comes together, and the Maison and horse racing share the same values: savoir-faire, energy and trust. This season, Longchamp returns to where the Maison began to celebrate the world of horse racing.

"It's fascinating to work with all the characters who bring the racetrack to life. The relationship between horse and rider holds a special place in my heart, and this season's collection revisits the entire history of the Maison.

"I love layering. It allows me to look chic and casual while enjoying the cozy, cozy feeling that winter demands."
