Shiseido's new skincare brand, BAUM, based on the theme of "coexistence with trees," will debut on May 30th.


BAUM focuses on the "power of trees," which have survived for hundreds of years while flexibly adapting to changes in the environment. Rooted in the idea of "coexistence with nature," which has been cherished by the Japanese since ancient times, the brand aims to realize a sustainable society that fully utilizes the blessings of trees and passes on tree resources to the future. The skincare cosmetics focus on the three functions of trees: water storage, growth, and environmental defense, supporting healthy skin regardless of age or gender. All cosmetics are made without parabens, silicones, or synthetic colorings, and are made from over 90% natural ingredients. The scent, blended primarily with natural tree-derived fragrances and matching the packaging design, brings a sense of comfort and harmony to the body and mind, similar to forest bathing. This truly is a skincare brand that balances both body and mind. The packaging is a collaboration with Karimoku, a wooden furniture manufacturer. It is made from recycled pieces of wood discarded during the furniture manufacturing process. High-quality oak (nara) harvested in the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions is used without waste, and given a new purpose, each piece is uniquely crafted, revealing its own unique grain and color. Its beautiful contemporary art-like appearance would complement any interior design.
