Thirty years have passed since the creation of L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, a fragrance that evokes the scent of water. ISSEY MIYAKE PARFUMS presents a new fragrance concept, inspired by essential natural elements.

In 1994, Issey Miyake unveiled L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, a fragrance that evokes the scent of water. This iconic fragrance revolutionized the world of fragrance, becoming a timeless classic imbued with clarity and elegance. Miyake has since once again drawn inspiration from an essential natural element: salt. Dedicated to the essence of modern masculinity, Le Cerre d'Issey's new fragrance centers around salt, an essential element of life. Evoking images of the bountiful nature that awakens the senses and stimulates vitality, this fragrance inspires powerful motivation.

Perfumer Quentin Biche bestowed a scent on salt, a naturally odorless substance. His unique interpretation has resulted in a fragrance that transcends mere scent. His skill is like that of an alchemist. The movement from sea to land, pulsating like a heartbeat, is captured in the invigorating traces of the waves, etched with wood and marine notes for a truly refreshing effect. The sea is expressed with natural marine seaweed and oakmoss. Oakmoss is extracted from lichen, which emerged from the sea onto land in ancient times, and is a fragrance that evokes the moistness of earth and wood. A refreshing salt accord further enhances the scent.
The earth is expressed with energetic ginger, the colorful and powerful minerality of vetiver, and upcycled cedarwood. These naturally derived fragrances give the scent an astonishingly rich intensity. A dialogue between the sea and the earth. This endless exchange is what gives rise to the vibrant and vital fragrance of Le Cerre d'Issey.

The fragrance bottle was designed by Japanese designer and artist Tokujin Yoshioka. Yoshioka has created innovative works based on the themes of nature and light. He has also been involved in Issey Miyake projects for over 30 years, designing a variety of products and spaces. The fragrance bottle for this "Le Cerre d'Issey" expresses the theme of "salt" through the powerful form of transparent glass and the creation of the phenomenon of "light" that transcends form.
This transparent, luminous fragrance bottle features a sculptural form that transforms from sharp straight lines to ellipses, and the luminous droplets designed within the glass block symbolically represent the energy of life.

The visual imagery was created by UK-based film director and photographer Marcus Tomlinson. He was inspired by a technique called cymatics, which visualizes sound vibrations. He filmed the mysterious phenomenon of sound waves forming patterns, and mixed actual footage and CG imagery in the same sequence. A technical and artistic masterpiece, the film captures the essence of salt and its life-giving power. The fragrance transforms into a salt swirl, then salt crystals emerge—nature at its purest. The crystals then burst into countless fragments, creating breathtaking, mystical cymatic patterns. The film's theme song, "Brest," is by French producer and composer Erwan Castex, known as Lone.
