Japan's first "edible butter"!?

CANOBLE, a brand from BEURRE AROMATISÉ that proposes a new way to enjoy butter, is currently the talk of the town.

While not yet very common in Japan, in Europe and the United States, where butter is widely used in food, people enjoy the taste of cold butter by putting it on dishes or bread and eating it as is. Most European butter is fermented butter, which is made by fermenting cream with lactic acid bacteria. As you already know, fermented butter is delicious, and because the butter itself has its own flavor, it doesn't feel heavy and can be enjoyed just as is.

Canoble, a brand launched last winter to spread this delicious way of eating butter in Japan. Canoble's popularity stems from its "edible butter," made by kneading nuts and dried fruit into domestically produced fermented butter. In France, this flavored butter is affectionately known as "Beurres aromatisés."

And this spring, two new flavors, "SAKURA" and "Setouchi Lemon Butter," were released.

The latest addition to the Beurre Aromatise series is "Setouchi Lemon Butter," a luxurious fruit butter made with plenty of Setoda lemons, wasanbon sugar, and other ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea. Lemon and butter are a perfect match. Limonene, the aromatic component of lemon, smooths the butter's texture. Wasanbon sugar adds a gentle sweetness while retaining the tartness of lemon, while seaweed salt adds a savory umami to the overall flavor. Enjoy it as a dessert on its own, or spread it on bread or accompany meat dishes.

Also, "SAKURA" is the first in the new Beurre Floris series, which combines flowers and butter. This semi-salted flavored butter uses whole cherry blossoms and leaves, capturing the aroma in a fresh, milky domestic butter. Finished with gently sweet wasanbon sugar and seaweed salt from the Seto Inland Sea, it's a delightfully salty flavor. The two-layered butter has one layer made with cherry blossoms to enhance the cherry blossom scent, and the other layer made with crushed leaves that give off a stronger cherry blossom scent, which melt together in your mouth to create the perfect cherry blossom scent. The surface is topped with salted cherry blossoms and leaves.
