This year marks the fourth annual Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse's winter food festival, "Sakadokoro Nabegoya 2019." This is a rare opportunity to enjoy hot pot, a dish perfect for cold days, in a retro Showa-era hot pot hut built right next to the sea. Starting on January 18th, we'll show you how to make the most of the luxurious 10-day event.

This year's Nabegoya will feature a selection of over 100 carefully selected sakes from all over Japan. Hot pot is a uniquely Japanese food culture, and delicious sake is a perfect match. We've picked out four of them!

"Kokka no Kaoru Junmai Daiginjo Yuinoka," produced in Iwate, is a popular brand that won the Platinum Award at "KURA MASTER 2018." It is characterized by its gorgeous fragrance and clean, gentle mouthfeel. "Zao K Junmai Sake," produced in Miyagi, south of Iwate, is an excellent product that won a Special Award at "SAKE COMPETITION 2018." It has an appealingly clear mouthfeel. From Hyogo in the west, we recommend the "Banshu Ikken Super Dry Junmai Sake," brewed with "Hyogo Kitanishiki" sake rice from the brewery's local Banshu region. It boasts a sharp mouthfeel and a crisp finish. Also recommended is the "Shirayuki Edo Genroku Sake," a rich, sweet sake that recreates the sake of the Genroku period (1603-1868) from "Shirayuki," founded in 1550. In addition to these, the lineup also includes rare seasonal "namazake" (unpasteurized sake) and sake made using the traditional "kimoto" method, making even the time spent choosing a drink enjoyable. For a casual drink, we highly recommend the "Choi-nomi & Choi-nabe" set!
Great news for those who like to drink and eat a little at a time. To celebrate the final year of the Heisei era, "Heisei 31," two tasting sets are available, allowing you to enjoy three small drinks from 31 different types of sake. Each set is limited to 100 people per day, so hurry!
■ Small Drink Set...3 Small Drink Tickets + Original Sake Cup (1,500 yen)
With a sake cup in hand, you can go bar-hopping, trying out your favorite sake from the 31 varieties. By the time you've finished three drinks, you'll be feeling tipsy and great.

The venue is divided into two areas: the "Tsukuri Nabe" (Cooking Hot Pot) area and the "Ippai Nabe (One-Piece Nabe)" area. This year's lineup includes "Local Hot Pots" packed with delicacies from all over Japan, and the photogenic "Jeni Nabe" (Cooking Hot Pot) that'll have you snapping photos. In the "Tsukuri Nabe" area, which can be enjoyed by large groups, a menu of seven different types of hot pots is served in a clay pot. Recommended for those who enjoy authentic dishes that feature carefully selected ingredients from around the region in a clay pot! Try exquisite a la carte dishes such as Yonezaki steamed oysters, grilled Hokkaido scallops, and oyster butter.
