Takashimaya's annual Valentine's event, "Amour du Chocolat," known affectionately as a "chocolate festival," will be held at Takashimaya Yokohama, Osaka, and Kyoto stores from January 23rd to February 14th, 2019, at Takashimaya Shinjuku from January 25th to February 14th, and at Takashimaya Nihonbashi from January 30th to February 14th.

This year's chocolate festival will bring together the latest trends, long-established chocolate makers, and chocolates from around the world. It will offer famous shops making their Japan debut, specialties from top pastry chefs, chocolates themed around "fruit" and "nuts" that are popular with women, and Takashimaya-exclusive brands that cater to the "self-purchase" needs of authentic-minded customers. It will also feature the trendy "ruby chocolate," known as the "fourth chocolate," as well as guilt-free and health-conscious chocolates, and combinations of two popular winter sweets: ice cream and chocolate, making it one of Japan's largest chocolate festivals.

The focus of 2019 is chocolate made with ruby cocoa beans, a rising star in the chocolate world known as the "fourth chocolate." This special feature will feature "ruby chocolate," made with ruby cocoa beans characterized by their natural pink color and berry-like texture. Available exclusively at Takashimaya is Bel Amer's "Premium Tablet Ruby" (1 piece, 1,728 yen including tax). This tablet chocolate, which looks like a small flower garden that fits in the palm of your hand, is made with refreshingly tart ruby chocolate and is topped with raspberries, pistachios, and flower-shaped chocolates.
Message de Rose's "Mignon Ruby" (6 pieces, 1,944 yen including tax) is a cute chocolate with a pink rose design, characterized by the natural pink color and refreshing fragrance of ruby chocolate. It will be sold in rose packaging exclusive to Takashimaya.

Mont Royal will be releasing "Chocolat Symphony" (8 pieces, 1,728 yen including tax), a ruby chocolate ganache with added raspberries and a milk and dark chocolate ganache, each lovingly decorated with white and dark chocolate, exclusively at Takashimaya.

With demand for "self-purchases" increasing every year around Valentine's Day, the popularity of "chocolate sweets" sold exclusively by various brands during this season is expected to grow even more in 2019. Takashimaya has doubled its lineup of limited-edition chocolate sweets, such as cookies, macarons, and gateau au chocolat, from popular brands that can only be enjoyed during this season, to meet the various demands of "self-purchases."
The Takashimaya exclusive brand "Good Morning Table" will be making its debut, based on the concept of "A Hokkaido Morning" and using fresh ingredients such as milk, corn, and cider from Hokkaido. The crispy "Snow White Corn Cookies" (8 pieces, 1,512 yen including tax) are coated in white chocolate and offer an exquisite combination of the slightly salty corn cookies and the sweetness of the white chocolate. The "Strawberry Langue de Chat" (9 pieces, 1,080 yen including tax) also makes a great little gift. The "Fresh Cream Burger", available only at the Yokohama and Osaka stores, is an exquisite dish that combines fresh cream from Hokkaido with homemade bread.
Henri Charpentier will be making its first appearance this Valentine's Day with a new chocolate brand, "Henri Charpentier Chocolat Pour", which focuses on the origin of its cocoa. In addition to the "Financier au Chocolat Assortment" (10 pieces for 2,916 yen including tax), which is available exclusively at Takashimaya and Hankyu Hanshin, and which features new flavors of Henri Charpentier's signature financiers, such as Ecuadorian cacao x orange & sansho pepper, and Vietnamese cacao x coriander, the store will also offer an unprecedented lineup of items such as gateau chocolat and bonbon chocolat.
