PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS has unveiled its Fall 2018 collection, featuring seasonal items for moon viewing and Halloween, as well as new interpretations of traditional sweets.
Original Moon Cake for the Mid-Autumn Festival
Coming up on September 24th is the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, the equivalent of the Japanese custom of "moon viewing." Celebrated for over 3,000 years, the Mid-Autumn Festival sees the most beautiful full moon of the year, and in China, it's customary to eat mooncakes, a symbol of family unity and bonds, on this occasion. Pierre Hermé's Moon Cake, an original mooncake inspired by the moon, a symbol of the night, is back again this year. This highly anticipated item in Paris and Hong Kong will be available in Japan again this year, following last year's launch. Housed in beautiful little boxes, the four flavors—Praline & Chocolat, Ispahan, Infiniment Vanille, and Thébert & Yuzu—create a vibrant and colorful atmosphere, perfect for a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival dinner. The "Moon Cake Assortment of 4" (¥3,888 including tax) and "Moon Cake Assortment of 8" (¥7,560 including tax) will be available in limited quantities from September 1st, exclusively at the Pierre Hermé Paris Aoyama Boutique, Isetan Shinjuku, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Sogo Yokohama, Hotel New Otani, The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, and online boutique. The 2018 Halloween collection is based on the theme of "Diaboliquement Délicieux" (addictive, devilishly delicious), and features unique illustrations of monsters attending Pierre Hermé Paris' Halloween party, becoming enthralled by the irresistible deliciousness. This limited-edition Halloween design will be available for a limited time on a variety of items, including the "10-piece macaron assortment" (3,888 yen including tax), the "Bonbon Ispahan" candy (estimated to be 1,188 yen including tax), and the "Sable Infiniment Chocolat" (1,404 yen including tax). Continuing on from last year, the popular "Tarte aux Potirons" (648 yen including tax) and the Aoyama boutique-exclusive "Muffin aux Potirons" (486 yen including tax) will also be available. It will be available from September 1st to October 31st at Pierre Hermé Paris boutiques in Japan, Hotel New Otani, The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, and the online boutique. Please note that "Tarte aux Potirons" will not be sold at the online boutique.
"Opera à Ma Fasson"
Pierre Hermé's monthly "Les Classiques," a fetish of traditional pastries, will feature the traditional French pastry, Opera, for the first time. The store will be selling "Opera à Ma Fasson" (15cm, 3,780 yen including tax; single portion, 756 yen including tax), a unique arrangement in which various textures complement each other and each flavor asserts its own character.
Other items available include "Mont Blanc à Ma Fasson" (756 yen including tax), "Flan des Amateurs" (648 yen including tax), "Tarte Impératrice" (756 yen including tax), "Paris-Brest Classic" (756 yen including tax), "Saint-Honoré Classic" (756 yen including tax), and "Baba Classic" (648 yen including tax). Available from September 19th to October 31st at Pierre Hermé Paris boutiques in Japan, Hotel New Otani, and The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto.
In addition, new autumn macarons have been released, adding a touch of elegance to a subdued look. As autumn deepens, the company is rolling out six new flavors (302 yen each, tax included) that add vibrant flavors like lemon and pain d'epice, and jasmine and wild strawberry to its lineup of moist, calming flavors like black tea, caramel, and apple. They will be available for purchase sequentially from September 1st at Pierre Hermé Paris boutiques in Japan, Hotel New Otani, The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, and the online boutique.
