The Yokohama Oktoberfest 2018, a beer festival celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, will be held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse from September 28th to October 14th.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest beer festival, held in Munich, Germany since 1810. Yokohama Oktoberfest has been held since 2003, as the venue, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, is a historic building that incorporates some German architectural styles, allowing visitors to enjoy an atmosphere as close as possible to the authentic German Oktoberfest. Last year, 150,000 people attended the event. The venue will offer a lineup of over 170 types of beer, including beers from the "Six Munich Breweries," officially licensed for the authentic German Oktoberfest. Enjoy a wide variety of flavors, including weizen, pilsner, and lager.

Ainger Oktoberfest Beer

The featured beer is Oktoberfest beer, which began brewing in March from various German breweries to ensure it will last until this year's Oktoberfest. Among the beers, Hacker-Pschorr and Ainger's Festbier will be making their Japan debut and available exclusively at this venue. To further enhance the enjoyment of dedicated beer fans, Hofbräu will be selling plastic glasses with straps that can be hung around the neck for the first time. To create an authentic feel, the food will also feature German sausages and other regional German dishes, perfectly paired with beer.

Sofa seating (from last year's event)

This year, Venue 1 will feature an open rooftop terrace, while Venue 2, facing the ocean, will feature a private room with luxurious sofa seating, providing a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying the event. The second venue will also feature bars offering German gin cocktails and jelly-like mojitos, perfect for those who don't like beer.

To commemorate the 15th anniversary, Yokohama City will be holding a "Yokohama Citizens' Thanks Day" event, where Yokohama residents will receive free admission on designated days to show their appreciation to local Yokohama residents. Other unique campaigns this year will also be held, including the "2nd Quarter Thanks Campaign," which allows you to reserve seats in the venue, and the "Rain Mark Campaign," which offers special offers on designated menu items on days when rain is forecast.

In addition, from September 14th to October 14th, shops and restaurants within the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will be selling German and beer-related merchandise in conjunction with Oktoberfest.

This fall, why not visit a beer festival just like the one in Munich, Germany?
