Higashiya Ginza's seasonal rice cakes, freshly made "brown rice cakes" available only once a day

Nov 30, 2017
On December 7th, Higashiya Ginza's "Setsuki Mochi" event will be held, where you can enjoy freshly made original morning sweets, "Brown Rice Mochi," made by the Japanese confectioners at Higashiya using newly harvested glutinous brown rice.

Just like "Sakura Mochi" when the cherry blossoms bloom, and "Kashiwa Mochi" for Boys' Day, Higashiya Ginza's "Setsuki Mochi" are based on the "24 solar terms" of the calendar, which have been nurtured by the rich sensibilities of the Japanese people. This event allows you to enjoy the deliciousness of freshly made morning sweets made by artisans. Up until now, Higashiya has been popular for its classic morning sweets, as well as its original "Tanabata Mochi," "Soba Mochi," "Risshun Daifuku," "Kino Me Mochi," "Yuzu Kuzu," and "Kuriyama," allowing customers to see the artisans' techniques up close and enjoy the softness of the freshly pounded mochi.

Around the time of "Heavy Snow" in the 24 solar terms, Higashiya is introducing its original morning sweet, "Brown Rice Mochi." A single piece (270 yen including tax) and a limited number of pieces in a wooden box (1,000 yen including tax) will be sold. This is the only day you can enjoy brown rice mochi, made with fragrant, newly harvested glutinous brown rice and wrapped in a rich, homemade soybean paste that is not too sweet.
