Seibu Shibuya Store launched the "SHIBUYA DESIGN MARCHE" on October 22nd, running until November 4th. Approximately 40 carefully selected makers from all over Japan are selling daily necessities, miscellaneous goods, and food products that incorporate traditional techniques and designs.
At the entrance on the first floor of Building A, you'll find San-A's three-tiered "Tokyo Pancake," Kanazawa's light "Shibafune" rice crackers, and Suzuki Seika's "Jiman Kusamochi," known for its slightly bitter taste. Please note that Jiman Kusamochi will only be available on October 26th and November 2nd. The promotional space on the first floor of Building A will feature the "Hidehisa Mini Mini Long Blade" from Toyama Hamono, a company founded in the Edo period and known for its specialty scissors for gardening and flower arranging, and the "Katsuooto (flat blade)" from Kakuri Seisakusho, crafted using the highest quality blade steel and polished three times. Also on sale will be items from "Art and Textile Workshop Mairyo Masako," a maker who handles all processes from dyeing to spinning, weaving, and sewing. Additionally, the seasonal space on the first floor of Shibuya Loft will feature 10 items, including Nishimura Metal's "Inverted Top" and Daiyo's "Japanese Candles." The Loft Forum on the sixth floor will feature five items, including pottery from Kobeegama and Nambu ironware from Oigen Chuzo. The event is part of "Shibuya Design Site 2013," a new project being held by Seibu Shibuya and Shibuya Loft under the theme "Changing Japanese design from Shibuya."
