Tokyo Midtown will be holding the design event "Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH 2013" from the 18th to the 4th of next month.
Based on this year's theme, "Let's go in search of design," a variety of content will be held throughout Midtown, including gardens, shops, and design facilities, allowing anyone to become a design hunter and enjoy searching for various designs hidden in everyday life.
The main content will be "Midpark Dungeon," set on the lawn plaza and designed by young architect Ryuji Fujimura. Four interactive content will be available in a virtual urban space that recreates the image of Manhattan. On weekends throughout October, "Midpark Workshops" will be held in tents along the lawn plaza. A total of 19 outdoor workshops will be held, fun for both children and adults, including the opportunity to make original moss balls, Chitose-ame tote bags, and my own blend of green tea.
The "DESIGN TOUCH CONFERENCE" will be held on the 26th. Lecturers will include Oki Sato, head of the design office "nendo," Ellie Omiya, who is active in a wide range of fields including as a writer and screenwriter, and Naoto Fukasawa, director of "21_21 DESIGN SIGHT."
Other events will be held, including "Salone in Roppongi," a recreation of the world's largest furniture trade fair, "Milano Salone," and the "Tokyo Midtown Award 2013," which calls for submissions with the aim of discovering and supporting the next generation of artists and designers.
