Nike+ FuelBand SE released in Japan, attracting attention from Miki Ando. E-commerce site also launched.

Nike will release the NIKE+ Funel Band SE, a new digital activity tracking device, on November 6th. The Fuel Band is a wristwatch-style activity tracker that quantifies the wearer's entire body activity and can be managed via an iOS app. It records the wearer's daily activity in units called "Nike Fuel," regardless of height, weight, or gender. The new model comes in four colors: black, pink, yellow, and red. It's compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 and easily syncs with the iPhone app. While the current model struggled to detect even the slightest movement, the new model has been improved to detect movement even during sleep, designed for all-day wear. The updated app also provides comprehensive support for encouraging users to stay active. As users approach their set activity goal, the 20 LED lights on the band screen change from red to green. The new watch is designed to motivate users by displaying "GOAL" when a goal is achieved and celebrating various milestones. Other new features include a "Session" function that individually tracks activity levels for specific activities like golf or soccer, a "Group" function that allows users to share their records with friends, and an "Active Hour" feature that encourages users who have not yet achieved their goals. The watch is priced at ¥15,750. Pre-orders will begin on October 25 at Nike Harajuku, Osaka Running, Nike Fukuoka, and the Nike Store Kichijoji (once the planned number is sold out). Ahead of the release, a domestic online store will launch on November 1. To coincide with the Japanese launch, Stefan Olander, Nike's Vice President of Digital Sports, visited Japan to give a product presentation. Also appearing as guests were figure skater Miki Ando, professional boxer Takashi Uchiyama, and former track and field athlete Dai Tamesue. They spoke about new digital innovations from an athlete's perspective. All three agreed that "it's easy to measure your daily exercise volume, which can also help boost your motivation." Ando also shared her unique female perspective, saying, "I'm also interested in the stylish design, which can be incorporated like an accessory."
