This fall, the 5th Shibuya Art Festival, the 8th Shibuya Music Festival, and the newly announced "Tokyo Work Design Week 2013" (TWDW) will be held in the area surrounding Shibuya Station in Tokyo.
The Shibuya Art Festival is an event held in collaboration with Shibuya Ward to promote "Shibuya culture" through art, video, music, and dance performances. This year, under the theme "Shibuya Smile," a wide variety of art events will be held throughout Shibuya over two days on October 26th and 27th at 10 venues, including Shibuya Hikarie and Shibuya Mark City. The Aogaeru (green carriage in front of Hachiko) in front of Shibuya Station will also be transformed into a Shibuya Art Festival vehicle. In addition, a program aimed at supporting earthquake recovery efforts will be broadcast at a satellite venue in Sendai.
The Shibuya Music Festival, with the theme "Hello. Thank you. Sorry," will showcase music of various genres at 30 venues, with Shibuya Public Hall as the main stage. This large-scale event, which attracted a total of approximately 100,000 visitors over two days last year, will be held over two days on November 9th and 10th. Starting in the afternoon of November 10th, the Aoyama Gakuin University Wind Orchestra Baton Twirling Club and the Oedo Sukeroku Taiko will perform spectacular acts in front of Shibuya 109. A live jazz performance will be held on Dogenzaka Street, and a music performance produced by TAICOCLUB, which also organizes outdoor festivals, will be held on Bunkamura Street. This first-time event, TWDW, will feature talks and conferences at Shibuya Hikarie as its main venue, under the theme "Seven Days to Discover New Ways of Working." From November 20th to 26th, the event will feature daily programs that allow participants to experience diverse new ways of working, such as shared offices and nomadic work styles. Work Design Talk will feature over 20 diverse guests who are practicing new ways of working themselves. They will share their experiences and wisdom in talk sessions and workshops about the future of companies and work styles.
