The Kobe Fashion Museum has begun distributing the "Western Fashion History Style Guide," which allows visitors to learn about the history of Western fashion by style, at its basic exhibition.
This guide chronologically introduces collections from the 18th century to the present. It provides detailed information on what styles were popular in which countries and at what times, as well as key fashion points.
The basic exhibition, where the guide is distributed, is an exhibition space showcasing the museum's collection under various themes. It introduces five major types of clothing structure—loincloth type, wrap type, gusset type, front-opening type, and figure-fitting type—through the folk costumes of countries around the world. It also displays samples of natural materials such as silk, wool, cotton, and linen, as well as the properties of new materials being developed daily. It also displays textiles dyed with various natural and synthetic dyes derived from plants and animals, and costumes restored through a collaborative project with Osaka Shoin Women's University. *Exhibitions may be arranged and displayed in conjunction with special exhibitions.
