Ginza Grand Hotel, operated by Granvista Hotels & Resorts, has opened in Ginza, Tokyo.
The hotel, which was created after a major renovation of Hotel Coms Ginza, has 11 floors above ground and 257 rooms, catering to a variety of occasions, offering a variety of rooms, including twin rooms, single and double rooms, urban rooms designed with a study concept, and 55-square-meter suites. Located on a corner of Namiki-dori Street in Ginza 8-chome, the hotel aims to be a next-generation city hotel under the corporate vision of "changing the future with local value." General manager Naka Yayoi, who was part of the opening staff at The Ritz-Carlton Osaka, will serve as general manager.
For the renovation, five leading Japanese creators from various fields were hired: interior designer Shigeru Uchida was in charge of the overall hotel design, French chef Takahiko Ozawa of Shirokane's French restaurant "OZAWA" was in charge of restaurant production, designer Nobuo Kenkabe of "Support Surface" was in charge of staff uniform design, Masaru Suzuki, who also works on textile design for "Marimekko," was in charge of interior art, sculptor Kohei Nobuhara was in charge of courtyard design, and Ryota Kojima was in charge of graphics.
At the opening party, Kenkabe unveiled five uniforms for the hotel and restaurants. "I envisioned a modern and simple image, with black, navy blue, and dark brown colors that express a mature and refined impression," he explained. This marks the first time he has designed men's clothing in 20 years. Suzuki, who designed the fabric boards displayed in the guest rooms and lobby, said, "Art has the power to soothe the soul, and I hope that guests who visit the hotel will feel that same peace of mind and become enriched in spirit."
The hotel's signature feature is its directly managed maisonette-style restaurant, Northern Terrace Diner Tokyo, which has an open-style terrace cafe and bar lounge on the first floor and casual dining on the basement floor. The open kitchen located in the center of the restaurant serves casual-style "Tokyo French" cuisine, using seasonal, organic, pesticide-free vegetables and ingredients directly from the source.
