Santa Maria Novella, the world's oldest pharmacy, originally from Italy, celebrated the grand opening of its flagship store in Ginza 6-chome on May 9th (1F, 6-8-17 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo). The interior is filled with natural light, creating a lighter feel than existing stores in Japan, and the floors are hardwood instead of terracotta. While maintaining the concept of a pharmacy, the store aimed to create an inviting atmosphere. The store measures approximately 36 square meters and offers a full lineup of herbal fragrance products, body care products, and interior items. According to the store manager, "Compared to our other stores, we have a wider customer base. Since our pre-opening period, we have seen many new customers, including men in their late 30s and 40s who have tried a variety of men's cosmetics. Many of our customers have been returning since before the relocation, and we have core customers who waited until the Ginza store opened without shopping at other stores, even during our roughly year-long closure." The store is known for its atmosphere that allows customers to take their time to carefully choose their products, and skin care items such as face creams and gift soaps are popular.
The herbal water "Maggio Water" (250ml/3,500 yen), which was previously sold at the Ginza store, is also selling well. As the name "Maggio" suggests, which means "May" in Italian, it has a refreshing early summer scent of iris and ginestra. It is primarily used as a body lotion with a lighter scent than eau de cologne, but can also be used as linen water.
