The one-of-a-kind restaurant "TENJIN" offers French cuisine that stimulates the senses in three settings

Based on the concept of "nature, art, and cuisine," ROKU KYOTO offers exceptional French cuisine at "TENJIN," inspired by the Rinpa school of Hon'ami Koetsu, pursuing unconventional beauty. The restaurant's interior features artwork themed around bamboo crafts, a Kyoto craft, allowing you to dine in a tranquil atmosphere. Respecting the history of the land, each dish expresses a story unique to Takagamine, including the yin-yang expression of Kyoto's inner and outer Kyoto, the traditional vegetables of Takagamine Botanical Garden, and unique presentation techniques inspired by the Rinpa art village.

Three Scenes to Choose From Based on Your Style and Occasion

"TENJIN" is divided into three areas: "Chef's Table," "All Day Dining," and "Bar." Guests can choose from each to suit their style and occasion.

"Chef's Table" offers a seasonal special menu consisting of 10 dishes, including a signature dish. Enjoy pairings with drinks that complement the dishes. "All Day Dining" offers breakfast, featuring a half-buffet filled with seasonal flavors and local vegetables, and a choice of seven main dishes. Lunch includes authentic course meals and a la carte options to suit your mood. Dinner offers a luxurious experience with vibrant modern French cuisine that captures the changing seasons of Kyoto. The "Bar" offers a unique way to enjoy alcohol, focusing on domestic alcoholic beverages and signature cocktails made with natural ingredients.

A location surrounded by nature where you can experience the four seasons

"ROKU KYOTO" is surrounded by nature, including the Takagamine Sanzan mountains and the Tenjin River, from which the name "TENJIN" comes. Not only can you enjoy the natural scenery, but you can also feel the changing seasons with cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, fireflies, and more. Furthermore, we incorporate many vegetables grown on local farms into our dishes, and, inspired by the herb garden that existed in this area during the Edo period, we will also serve dishes and drinks made with herbs grown in our own herb garden. The Tenjin River flows just below the terrace seats, and from the terrace seats and the "Engawa" facing the terrace, you can feel like you are in an extraordinary place as you listen to the murmuring of the river. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind dining experience that stimulates all five senses.

A fusion of traditional techniques and French cuisine

"TENJIN" offers a unique experience of immersing yourself in the blessings of nature, featuring works by young ceramic artists active throughout Japan. Honami Koetsu Village, located in Takagamine, housed young artists from all over Japan and built a unique culture. Inspired by this culture, "TENJIN" is particular about the tableware it uses, serving ingredients in dishes that match the season. Bringing together the skills of young ceramic artists and chefs, the restaurant creates a setting that makes you feel as if Koetsu Village has been revived.

Healthy, beautifully dressed cuisine that expresses "gratitude to nature"

"TENJIN" cuisine is based on French techniques and the bounty of nature, centered around Kyoto. Inspired by the French concept of terroir, and guided by the belief that "humans are part of nature and should be grateful for what nature provides," we offer healthy, beautifully presented dishes using many home-grown herbs and flowers, locally grown vegetables, and seasonal nuts and fruits from the local environment.

◇Comment from Executive Chef Akira Taniguchi

We humans are part of nature and are by no means an independent entity. We are grateful for everything nature provides us, from what our ancestors have eaten for generations, to the land we live on, and what bears fruit in this season, and we offer art (the culmination of the ability and technique to create something using the power of nature). Enjoy the bounty of nature in Takagamine, and experience something extraordinary and refresh yourself.
