Alexander McQueen will open its first flagship store in Japan in early June in Aoyama, Tokyo (5-1-3 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo). This will be the brand's first standalone store in the Omotesando area since its shop on the basement floor of Sketch Omotesando (now GYRE) closed in 2003. The two-floor, 390-square-meter store was designed by David Collins Studio under the supervision of creative director Sarah Burton. The store will carry items from women's and men's runway shows, commercials, and accessory lines, including seasonal collections as well as iconic pieces like the skull scarf and knucklebox clutch. A backpack (260,000 yen) and a padlock shoulder bag (175,000 yen) will be available exclusively at the Aoyama store. Both are black and feature two types of studs. Additionally, a pair of skull-embossed slip-on sneakers (72,000 yen) will be available for pre-sale in black, ivory, and gray.
