Alexander McQueen has opened its world's first accessories store in Roppongi Hills. The decision to open the store was prompted by the brand's strategic focus on accessories and the high share of the Japanese market for accessories. The store offers a wide variety of accessories, including bags, scarves, and leather goods. The store's design was created by the brand's creative director, Sarah Burton, and David Collins Studio. It was inspired by wild plants and animals, portraits of the Pope by Francis Bacon, and the architecture of Swiss artist Hans Rudolf Giger and Antonio Gaudi.
The space is brimming with McQueen's signature elements, including reconstructed crushed marble for the flooring, custom-made plaster panels made from feathers, shells, cactus flowers, mushroom folds, seahorse tails, and leaves, as well as small skulls.
To mark the opening, a scarf piece created in collaboration with sculptor and artist Odani Motohiko will be on display until April 21st, and showpieces from the 13SS collection, imported from the UK, will also be on display for a limited time.
A limited edition scarf (32,550 yen) featuring a skull print in yellow and pink and pink and yellow, exclusive to the store, is currently on sale.
