Parco to open Zero Gate in Nagoya next fall, leasing land from Takihyo

Jul 2, 2013

On the 1st, Parco announced that it will open a new commercial facility, "Nagoya Zero Gate (tentative name)," in the Sakae area of Nagoya. "Zero Gate" is a development and operation business for urban mid- to low-rise commercial facilities, which the company is pursuing as part of its business strategy in its medium-term management plan. Taking advantage of favorable locations and efficiently managing operations according to the scale of the business, the business is characterized by its unique approach. It already has facilities in four locations: Shibuya, Shinsaibashi, Hiroshima, and Dotonbori.

The "Zero Gate" business concept is to propose lifestyles based on new values under various themes, including fashion and culture. It often serves as a base for brands appealing to young people. "Shibuya Zero Gate" is home to Bershka's first store in Japan, while "H&M," one of Japan's largest retailers, is located at "Shinsaibashi Zero Gate."

The planned site for "Nagoya Zero Gate (tentative name)" is a prime location facing Otsu-dori, where Nagoya Parco and many other large commercial facilities and street-level shops are located. The Sakae area is already bustling, but the opening of this commercial facility with its large customer drawing power is expected to further revitalize the area.

The owner of the approximately 3,000 square meter plot of land is Takihyo, a textile wholesaler, and Parco has already signed a land lease agreement with the company. In the future, Parco plans to invest approximately 1.6 billion yen to build a three-story commercial facility with a total floor area of approximately 7,500 square meters. "Nagoya Zero Gate (tentative name)" is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014. Tenants have yet to be decided.
