Y-3, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has hired Pierre Debusschere as photographer and film director for its Spring/Summer 2013 advertising campaign.
The campaign photos capture the essence of Y-3: a partnership between opposites, conveying the idea of two completely different worlds, such as Japan and Germany. Focusing on movement, the images distort images with visual effects, boldly expressing the energy of movement.
A new campaign film will be released in February, featuring an original score by ambient music pioneer Tim Hecker. Users can access the film through a cutting-edge interactive online interface on the Y-3 website, where they can manipulate sound and images to create their own video clips. They can also share their creations with others online. Like many of Tim's works, the song features variations on a theme, with each loop pulsating and evolving in sync with the campaign film's visual effects.
Y-3 is a brand for which Yohji Yamamoto serves as creative director. In 2001, a collaborative shoe line called "adidas for Yohji Yamamoto" was launched within Yohji Yamamoto's collection. Yamamoto then became creative director of Y-3 in 2002, and a brand combining adidas' sports technology with Yamamoto's style was born.
