ELZA WINKLER, a Japanese designer with a background in Yohji McQueen, debuts as a line of authentic clothing for women in the Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

ELZA WINKLER, a women's brand by designer Eiichiro Nakai, has unveiled its first collection. The theme for SS15 is "Classic and Creative," which also represents the brand's concept. "Classic" refers to ultimate minimalism with a focus on perfection, while "creative" refers to the designer's pursuit of new designs that make the most of the skills he developed overseas. After graduating from Bunka Fashion Graduate University, Nakai joined Yohji Yamamoto. After working as chief pattern maker for ato, he moved to the UK. In London, he worked as a senior pattern maker under Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, where he was responsible for most of the jackets in the collection line. Drawing on the technical experience he gained at this major fashion house, he is a designer with a focus on authenticity, creating clothes with an emphasis on high-quality tailoring. This time, Nakai deliberately limited the number of items, expressing his desire to "not compromise on anything," and presented only perfectly finished pieces. He created almost everything himself, from the patterns to the sewing, and competed with items that exude minimalist beauty, including shirts, trench coats, suits, and dresses. The trench coat was a professionally tailored piece, inspired by Nakai's desire to "create something that surpasses Burberry." The loose-fitting cotton shirt dress features a wide hem to match the material and volume, and a facing at the hem for volume. In contrast, the chiffon shirt of the same style features narrow seams and a three-fold hem to take advantage of the lightness of the material. The tailored jacket's waist is tightly fitted, creating a beautiful curve. The plunging neckline and slightly flared hem accentuate feminine beauty. The evening dress has a minimalist look, but the well-placed seams and tucks create a flawless, elegant look. Despite the limited number of items, the collection strongly conveys the brand's vision.

In the future, they plan to spread the word not only in Japan but also to Asia and even the world through exhibitions and social media. The business side of things will be overseen by a judicial scrivener who is a friend they've known since they were in the first grade of elementary school. It's a brand that we can look forward to seeing develop in the future, both in terms of craftsmanship and business.
