Saint Laurent's Christmas is monochrome: new colors of celebrity-favorite iconic bag released

Oct 31, 2014

Saint Laurent will release its exclusive "Holiday Collection" for Christmas in late November. The brand's signature black and white "Duffel" bag is available in new colors, while the "Monogram Saint Laurent" bag features iconic studs and lustrous python, creating a monochrome world.

The Duffel, inspired by Hedi Slimane's own travel bags, is an iconic bag that symbolizes the new Saint Laurent. It was first created in 2012 in the Saint Laurent atelier for Slimane to use between Los Angeles and Paris. A second one was given to Pierre Bergé, and a third to Gwyneth Paltrow. The classic yet everyday design features a subtle brand logo, a three-position adjustable and detachable shoulder strap, a key ring, luxurious suede lining, and a magnetic pocket on the front, showcasing the bag's functional craftsmanship. It's a favorite of celebrities like Kate Moss and Anne Hathaway. This time, white versions of the "BABY DUFFLE" (145,000 yen) and "DUFFLE 6" (199,000 yen) will be available.

The Monogram Saint Laurent collection, which debuted in the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection, features the house's iconic YSL Cassandra gold metal logo on the front and is made from calfskin, suede, metallic materials, and more. It comes in a wide range of designs, including chain, clutch, and tote bags. This time, two types of handbags will be released: one with a black body and studs (185,000 yen), and one with a glossy white body and gold tassels hanging down (210,000 yen).
