Godiva Japan Co., Ltd. will be selling the "Ginza Chocolat Daifuku," a collaboration between Ginza Sembikiya and the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (Zen-Noh), part of the "Godiva Monthly Chef's Selection," which Godiva develops together with chefs from across Japan, exclusively at select Godiva stores nationwide from June 14, 2023, and in limited quantities on the Godiva online shop from June 16.

On March 30th last year, GODIVA, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in Japan, and Zen-Noh, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary since its founding, launched the "GODIVA x Zen-Noh Collaboration Project" with the desire to deliver delicious fruit from all over Japan to as many people as possible through their products. Over the course of the year up to March this year, they had been working together to develop a total of 50 collaborative products. Now in 2023, the project will evolve even further, and together with Zen-Noh, a fruit expert, and fruit specialty store Ginza Sembikiya, they will propose a variety of sweets that combine carefully selected fruits and chocolate.

Ginza Sembikiya is a long-established fruit store founded in 1894. While respecting tradition, the store also develops and sells a wide range of original products, including chocolates, baked goods, cakes, and breads, that bring fruit closer to people's lives. Attracted by the wide variety of products and development capabilities, and with the desire to offer new products not previously available from Godiva and deliver happy moments, we approached Ginza Sembikiya, leading to the realization of a collaboration between the three companies. The first product to commemorate this milestone is the release of Ginza Chocolat Daifuku.

Ginza Chocolat Daifuku is made with rich, smooth chocolate cream made with Belgian chocolate and carefully selected fruit, whose aroma and sweet and sour flavors complement the chocolate, wrapped in chewy mochi rice cakes and luxuriously coated in cocoa powder. The fruits selected for their excellent taste and appearance are Tochigi Prefecture's Tochiotome strawberries, known for their excellent balance of sweetness and tartness; Kagawa Prefecture's kiwifruit, made with the Koryoku variety, characterized by its intense sweetness, rich flavor, and refreshing taste; and Kagoshima Prefecture's kumquat, edible with the skin, characterized by its sweetness and just the right amount of tartness.

The fruit varieties selected were strawberries, kiwifruit, and kumquats, sourced by Zennoh, and were chosen for their rich flavor, comparable to chocolate, their delicious aroma, the sweet and tart flavors that pair well with chocolate, and their vibrant colors. We used Belgian chocolate to create a chocolate cream that complements the freshness of the fruit. The amount of chocolate was repeatedly adjusted to achieve the perfect balance between cream and fruit, and the chocolate cream was finally completed. To further enhance the deep cacao flavor of the chocolate cream, we kneaded cocoa powder into the mochi and sprinkled it on top, resulting in a rich chocolate daifuku.
