A peach shortcake has been added to the "Super Series" offered at Hotel New Otani Tokyo and the pastry shop "Patisserie Satsuki" in Makuhari.

The "Super Series" was created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Hotel New Otani's opening. The luxurious taste, which overturned existing concepts of sweets at 1,200 yen per cake, became such a hit that it immediately sold out. In 2014, the "Extra Super Series" was launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the store's opening, featuring even more carefully selected ingredients. It has become a popular signature cake.
The "New Extra Super Peach Shortcake" (3,500 yen per cake / limited to 20 cakes per day), available until late August, uses approximately one whole domestic peach per cake, carefully selected with a sugar content of 13% or more. Marinated in fruity lychee honey, the peach's sweetness is enhanced, making it a perfect match with the cream and sponge cake. The topping is a peach coated in Yoshino Kudzu, which brings out the natural flavor of the peach. This year, the cake is paired with lychee, which complements the peach well and adds a texture, creating a juicy, melt-in-your-mouth marriage of peach and lychee.

The sponge cake is made with "white cereal," a blend of domestic grains grown in the hotel's private fields, and "brown rice eggs," which have a refreshing taste, produced by chickens raised on brown rice. It is combined with 35% low-fat cream from Omuta, Kyushu, specially ordered for the "New Extra Super Peach Shortcake," bringing out the delicate aroma and flavor of the peach.
Sales will end when peach season ends, and the sale period will only last for two weeks. Due to its short sales period, this luxurious taste is also known as the "phantom shortcake," so be sure to take this opportunity to enjoy it!
