MHD Moët Hennessy Diageo K.K. (Kanda Jinbocho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will launch the "Dom Pérignon x Lady Gaga Second Brand Campaign" for its Dom Pérignon brand, starting March 1, 2023.
 Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga
Since 2021, Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga have been pushing the boundaries of creativity by combining their respective creative endeavors. This year's campaign will focus on the importance of "creative activity" in the creative process and will be presented alongside Dom Pérignon's latest vintage, "Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013." Dom Pérignon Cellar Master Vincent Chaperon and Lady Gaga see art as a creative form, understanding that a spark of inspiration requires tireless effort, dedication, and craftsmanship. Dom Pérignon's craftsmanship is rooted in a dialogue with nature and begins with the dedicated labor of the vineyard workers who understand the vines and support their growth throughout the seasons. Vincent Chaperon selects the juice from each grape, each with its own unique character, and blends it repeatedly until the ideal harmony is found that embodies Dom Pérignon's timeless creative philosophy, allowing the wine to mature for more than eight years.

Lady Gaga's creative career began at the age of four, when she began learning classical piano. She eventually began singing and dancing at local theaters. She continued to receive vocal training for many years and thoroughly studied musical history, becoming one of the most highly acclaimed pop vocalists in the world today. Even today, as a renowned top vocalist, she continues to listen to the music within her and hone her skills every day to express her artistic ideals.

Through rigorous and meticulous work, both artists continue to evolve towards their ideals of creativity. By building on their daily creative endeavors and challenging their own limits, they will develop an even more evolved collaboration.

Source of Inspiration
The Abbey of Saint-Pierre-Hautvillers is a long, majestic building overlooking the River Marne in the Champagne region of France. This is the starting point of the Dom Pérignon x Lady Gaga collaboration, and a place that embodies the "creative activity" of craftsmanship that strives for excellence. Founded in the 7th century, this abbey marked a turning point in the history of champagne production when monk Dom Pierre Pérignon was appointed cellarmaster and purveyor of the abbey in 1668. He captured the hearts of the French court and brought the abbey to prominence. His wines graced the finest tables of the 17th and 18th centuries and were delivered directly to the royal household of Louis XIV and the most prestigious Parisian merchants of the time. He lived his life with the Benedictine creed of "Hola et Laborio" (prayer and work), believing that the harmony between these two teachings was the key to achieving greatness. Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga were inspired by the abbey's centuries-old creativity and innovation in champagne, creating a new campaign.

Campaign Theme: "The Evolution of Creation"
The theme of this campaign is "The Evolution of Creation." The film highlights the striking contrast between Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga, each as a completed work of art in their own right. Blending tradition and modernism, intimacy and grandeur, light and shadow, the film expresses Dom Pérignon's deep connection to art, music, and dance. The campaign film begins with a scene of "creation" befitting Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga. The film features the iconic vineyards of Dom Pérignon, accompanied by Lady Gaga at the piano. As she plays, dancers gradually come to life in the cloisters of Hautvillers Abbey. As an orchestral arrangement joins in, the music and dancers' performance gradually gains in complexity and energy. A flash of lightning strikes a sensual projection of a Dom Pérignon bottle, culminating in an elegant, dreamlike performance in which the entire group floats into the air above the abbey's bell tower.

Three Co-Creators
Vincent Chapron enlisted the help of three artists, each with expertise in their own field. First is Woodkid (Yoann Lemoine), the campaign's director and composer. A multidisciplinary artist working in music production, graphic design, and video direction, he devised a contemporary approach to contrast the centuries-old craftsmanship symbolized by the Abbey of Hautvillers. The second artist is choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, an accomplished choreographer with over 50 works to his name, and a powerful dancer himself. The dance is scheduled to be performed on stage in 2023. The third artist is Italian photographer of light Mario Sorrenti. His work has been featured in renowned fashion magazines around the world, and some of his highly acclaimed photographs have even been published in books. As the photographer for this print campaign, he rose to the challenge of capturing the dynamics of this story in still images.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013
After nearly a decade of aging, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 is finally here. Like his collaboration with Lady Gaga, this creative endeavor bore fruit as a laborious and time-consuming endeavor. First, Vincent Chaperon had to combine two distinct, yet complementary, elements: volume and acidity. By sculpting these opposing elements, the blend's direction was precisely defined. At the same time, this blending was based on an idea that took into account the second aspect of Dom Pérignon's creativity: the passage of time. Vincent Chaperon's imagination allowed him to anticipate the effects of ageing and aging on the wine, resulting in a harmonious blend. This process further elevated the artistry of the 2013 Vintage. After a lengthy process, the assemblage was finally completed and, after approximately 10 years of aging, was born as a champagne that embodies the quintessential elegance, delicacy, and classic style of Dom Pérignon.

[2013 Weather and Harvest]
After a cold, rainy winter, the spring was also overcast and quite cool, resulting in an extremely wet year. The grapes budded about two weeks later than the 10-year average and were unable to make up the delay before harvest. The summer was one of the hottest and driest on record, even for Champagne, but this climate proved to be extremely beneficial for the quality of the grapes. Heavy rain in early September quickly gave way to strong easterly winds, allowing the grapes to remain healthy until harvest. Harvest lasted from September 28th to October 15th, and tastings at harvest revealed excellent potential, achieving a balance of acidity and a powerful, full-bodied flavor.
[Aroma]
The wine's delicate aromas are rich and colorful. The aromas are a complex interplay of green (eucalyptus, mint, vetiver), yellow-orange (mirabelle plum, apricot, orange blossom), and brown (pepper, cardamom, licorice stick). Finally, silvery notes of salt and smoky flavors emerge.
[Taste]
The palate is elegant, expressing luxurious simplicity and precision. Following a light, enveloping attack, the refined, silky wine becomes more pronounced. The finish is dominated by a deep, lingering saltiness.
Dom Pierre Pérignon and its History
The heritage of the Abbey of Hautvillers, the home of Dom Pérignon, is more than just winemaking technique; it is its spirit. Dom Pierre Pérignon was appointed Cellar Master at the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668. For the next 47 years, he dedicated his life to creating "the world's greatest wine." For Dom Pérignon, the pursuit of perfect harmony is an essential creative vision and an eternal journey.
We must always strive for perfection to express Dom Pérignon's ideals and unique personality. It is a never-ending quest, and its mystical inspiration allows Dom Pérignon to rediscover new value in each vintage.
