Asakusa's long-established Komagata Dozeu opens a new restaurant serving wild game and organic vegetables

Jan 28, 2019
In December 2018, Komagata Dozeu, a long-established restaurant in Asakusa, opened SEN, a new restaurant concept based on the concept of "SHINSEN (freshness) of ingredients," offering a casual and dynamic experience of seasonal Japanese cuisine.

Established in 1801, Komagata Dozeu in Asakusa has continued to preserve the Edo-style flavors and atmosphere through the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods, passing them down to the current seventh generation. The newly opened SEN restaurant continues this Edo-style atmosphere in flavor and hospitality, aiming to be a restaurant that will be loved for 200 years to come and weave new stories for its visitors.

SEN is conveniently located just across from Asakusa Station and minutes from Sensoji Temple. They offer meats like fish and wild game, as well as organic vegetables, cooked simply raw or charcoal-grilled to preserve the flavor.

"Pork Miso with Yuzuan Sauce" (1,500 yen)

Komagata Dozeu has always been particular about its ingredients, providing only safe ingredients from known producers. The new restaurant, SEN, continues this same approach, offering fresh ingredients prepared in the most optimal way. The first floor features an open kitchen where you can watch seasonal ingredients being grilled right before your eyes.

The branding was handled by THINK GREEN PRODUCE, which is committed to cultural inheritance projects, the menu was developed by food director Machiko Kawata, and the interior design was handled by Landscape Products, known for creating spaces using wood. Abundant use of natural wood, which gives a gentle impression, has been used to create a cozy space.
