The Brooklyn, NY mobile food market will be held for the first time in the Kanto region! 60 stores, including a popular NY hamburger restaurant, will be set up in Saitama Shintoshin

The large-scale outdoor food market "Smorgasburg Saitama Shintoshin" will be held in Saitama Shintoshin for three days from September 22nd to 24th.

Last year's event

"Smorgasburg" is a mobile outdoor food market held every weekend in Brooklyn, New York. Only vendors that pass a rigorous screening process by Brooklyn Flea are allowed to participate in the event. Lined with vendors offering raclette sandwiches, juicy cheeseburgers, and ice cream you'd never find in Japan, the event has become a popular New York staple since its inception in 2011.

Last year, the first Smorgasburg Osaka event was held in Japan. Popular New York restaurant CARNAL came to Japan, and local favorites with many regulars and chefs from the group Ohashiism, which hosts pop-up events overseas with the goal of "connecting the world through food," offered limited-edition menus. Despite the rain, 25,000 people attended over the three days. The event ended with great success.

BURGER SUPREME

Approximately 60 restaurants participated in this event, held in Saitama Shintoshin. Already confirmed to be participating are restaurants from Brooklyn's original Smorgasburg, including BONA BONA, popular for its unique ice cream made by piping marshmallows on top of ice cream and toasting it with a burner; BURGER SUPREME, the hugely popular hamburger joint that draws long lines; BONSAI KAKIGORI, which offers original shaved ice with a New York flair; and CHEEZUS, a cheese sandwich specialty shop.

Also from Japan, you can enjoy a variety of menus, from Kappo to Spanish and Italian cuisine, including BEAVER BREAD, a boulanger and bakery trusted by chefs, as well as Namida, THE GOOD VIBES, and Salmon & Trout. In addition, there will be a "Meat Grilling Live" performance by Mardi Gras owner chef Toru Wachi, a master of meat grilling who is so well-known in Japan that Chef Wachi is synonymous with meat dishes. Chef Wachi will grill thick slices of meat on the hot plate, which will then be cut and served on the spot. Why not enjoy the autumn season's "season of appetite" at a food market with a Brooklyn-esque atmosphere over the autumn holidays?
