A course of artistic sweets to savor with both taste and sight. A collaboration between Kiso lacquerware and Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court

Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court in Karuizawa, Nagano, will kick off the "Karuizawa Sweets Collection 2017 Autumn" event in collaboration with Kiso lacquerware, a traditional Shinshu craft, starting September 16th. The event will run until November 30th.

The lineup includes "Forest Fragrance," a warm soup made with chestnuts and chestnut honey; "Under the Grape Trellis," a grape jelly with a sweet and sour, mellow fruit and juice that evokes autumn; "Chrysanthemum Day," a warm choux pastry filled with refreshingly sweet pear ice cream; "Playing Balls," a Mont Blanc that allows you to fully savor the sweetness of adzuki beans; "Gathering Fallen Leaves," a main dessert made with a light, crispy leaf-shaped pie crust filled with cinnamon-flavored custard cream and apples with different textures; and "Autumn Dusk," an affogato of hazelnut ice cream and coffee, all of which evoke an autumnal atmosphere.

From October 16th to November 30th, "Menu Dessert Late Autumn" (3,500 yen) will be available, using ingredients such as walnuts and pumpkin. The first dish will be "Scent of the Forest," just like in early autumn; the second will be "Wrapped in Spices," a pear jelly made to taste like wine; the third will be "Walnut Harvest," a fragrant walnut cream wrapped in a walnut-shaped monaka; the fourth will be "Autumn Wreath," a pumpkin Mont Blanc shaped like a wreath; the fifth will be the main dessert; and the sixth will be the same as in early autumn. The main dessert can also be ordered individually (1,200 yen).

In addition, there will be a pairing of the "Menu Dessert" with Maruyama Coffee, a famous coffee shop originating in Karuizawa (5,000 yen). Additionally, there will be an "Autumn Afternoon Tea" (3,500 yen), which includes sweets such as grape tart, small pastries, and mousse, as well as two types of eclair salé sandwiched between sausage and Shinshu salmon, and a drink set, as well as three types of gateaux made with colorful grapes, apples, walnuts, etc. (600 yen each, with drink, 1,200 yen each). All prices are exclusive of tax and service charge.
