Food and desserts in collaboration with the "Louvre Museum Exhibition: Depicting Everyday Life—The Essence of European Painting as Seen in Genre Paintings," currently being held at the National Art Center, Tokyo in Roppongi, Tokyo, will be available at restaurants in Roppongi Hills until June 1st.
During this period, menu items inspired by the paintings and other exhibits at the venue will be introduced. One of these dishes is the "Kagoshima Prefecture Kuroge Wagyu Beef Neck and Whole Saihomare Carrots Braised in Red Wine" (2,041 yen, tax included) served at the grill and restaurant bar "AW Elements." The method of braising Wagyu beef, raised in the natural waters of the Kirishima Mountains, in red wine was inspired by "silver stew pots" and "peasant meals." The dish also features a whole roasted Ayahomare carrot, known for its "shocking sweetness."
The "Antipasto Louvre" (1,728 yen, tax included) served at the Italian restaurant "Andiamo" is a dish inspired by "The Wedding Feast at Cana." This dish recreates the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine with a platter of marinated Roquefort cheese, raisins stewed in white wine, prosciutto and fig crostini, and vanilla-flavored honey.
The "Roast Lamb with Red Wine and Seasonal Fruit Sauce" (1,800 yen, tax included) served at wine bar and cafe "Chapeau Margot" is inspired by Pieter de Hooch's "The Drinker." The vibrant rosé-colored roast lamb is served with a sweet and sour sauce made with red wine, which pairs perfectly with lamb, and seasonal fruits.
The "Monde" (800 yen, tax included), served at cafe bar and restaurant "Brasserie Le Duc" and limited to 15 servings per day, is a dessert inspired by the antique celestial globe that appears in Johannes Vermeer's "Astronomy." The caramel mousse is filled with banana garni and a walnut brownie, and its fragrant aroma will whet your appetite.
The cafe restaurant "Eggcellent" offers "Chessboard Pancakes" (1,620 yen including tax), inspired by Rubin Beaujan's "Still Life with Chess." The original chocolate sauce is rich yet not too sweet, with a hint of black sesame, creating an adult flavor that pairs well with wine.
Other dishes are also available, all with a motif of the Louvre Museum's pyramid. The cream puff specialty store "Crème de la Crème" sells a rare cheesecake "Louvre Rouge" (540 yen including tax), limited to 10 servings per day, which is made of rare cheese mousse with petit choux pastry coated in a bright red raspberry glaze. The Italian restaurant "Hills D'Almatto" offers "Pyramid Rare Cheesecake & Grape Sparkling Wine or Grape Juice" (1,296 yen including tax), inspired by the pyramid and grapes. The mosaic-patterned pyramid cake is filled with rare cheese mousse and grapes.
Other French-inspired menu items include the "Fromage Macaron Tart" (700 yen, tax included) at the cafe "E.A. Grand." This custard tart topped with fromage cream is decorated with colorful macarons and berries. Meanwhile, the brasserie cafe and patisserie "Brasserie Cafe Huit" recreates the simple, home-style cuisine of the French people around the 17th century. In addition to appetizers such as pate de campagne, marinated salmon, and ratatouille, they also offer chicken thigh confit, limited to 30 servings per day. At the luxury Parisian chocolate shop "La Maison du Chocolat," a chocolatier from an authentic Parisian chocolate shop will specially prepare a set menu of raw chocolate entremet and drink (1,458 yen, tax included).
These menu items are generally available during business hours. However, "Roast lamb with red wine and seasonal fruit sauce" is only available in the cafe and during dinner time, and "Kagoshima Prefecture Kuroge Wagyu beef neck and whole Saiho carrot stewed in red wine" is only available during dinner time.
