The "Kyoto Rekidai Noren Market," an event featuring approximately 70 timeless Kyoto shops, will be held from March 25th to 30th at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building 6th Floor Event Hall. This spring, the event will feature a selection of traditional Japanese sweets and cherry blossom-themed bento boxes. Kaisei-tei, a venerable French restaurant with over 100 years of history, will debut its fillet beef cutlet burger (1,500 yen). This hearty cutlet burger features a thick beef cutlet and a special demi-glace sauce. Also making its debut at this event will be Harisei, a Kyoto cuisine restaurant in Higashiyama-Gojo that has been in business for 350 years. A seasonal bento box called "Fuku" (1,500 yen) that recreates the flavors of Kyoto, is available exclusively at the Isetan Shinjuku store. Topped with shredded egg and salmon roe, the bento evokes the budding of spring. There's also a wide selection of cherry blossom-themed sweets perfect for this time of year. These include Hanbeifu's "Sakura Mochi Fu" (5 pieces/1,100 yen), made with fresh gluten wrapped in sweet bean paste, and Sasaya Iori's "Sakura Sakura" (250 yen), cherry-colored mochi wrapped in cherry blossom bean paste. The eat-in space also offers a limited-time offer: "Maiko-han's Favorite Parfait" (1,250 yen) by Kaden Kyoame Gion Koishi. This limited-time menu features brown sugar condensed milk made with spring-themed strawberries and crunchy yuzu brown sugar granola. The buyer in charge commented, "We've put together a selection of items to evoke the image of people enjoying the cherry blossoms at night on their way home from work, along with the bento boxes and sweets at Noren Market. We hope that people will feel the spring first through the appearance, and then through the taste."
