SUPERSTAR, the lifestyle sportswear brand, is making a comeback this fall. Sales begin on August 9th, and Japan national soccer team player Keisuke Honda has been appointed as the brand mascot.
Utilizing the technology Mizuno has cultivated in developing athletic wear, SUPERSTAR developed highly functional sportswear up until the 2009-10 Autumn/Winter season. The brand was relaunched in August of this year, relaunching as a highly fashionable apparel brand targeting "playful adults."
This fall/winter lineup includes 19 items, including jerseys, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and caps. The designs are primarily black with gold accents. The trendy camouflage pattern also makes them suitable for sports, as well as for commuting to the gym. Prices range from ¥2,500 to ¥12,000, and sizes are S, M, L, and XL (the cap is one size fits all).
The company's decision to use Honda, who is particular about his own style, reflects its intention to provide clothing suitable for fashion-conscious athletes. Honda commented, "After the World Cup, I decided to restart with a new determination, and I feel there is some overlap with this. I would like to continue to be committed to this brand and take on new challenges."
