Mizuno to release new shoes to support Japan national soccer team player Shinji Okazaki

May 30, 2014

The shoes worn by Shinji Okazaki (Mainz, Germany), a member of the Japanese national team at the FIFA World Cup Brazil, in the national team match on May 27th, will be released by Mizuno on July 12th.

These shoes, with their striking yellow and black color scheme, are Mizuno's new speed soccer shoes, the "BASARA 001 TC" (19,000 yen). This latest model is designed to facilitate linear acceleration and high-speed turns. A new special fiber material called R-Fiber Control reduces lateral movement during sprints and turns. In fact, in the match against Cyprus on the 27th, Okazaki, as a right midfielder, created good opportunities with his sharp movements and even showed the play that led to the opening goal. Okazaki said of the shoes, "From the first time I put them on, they felt right at home on my feet, and I felt they would provide the maximum support I needed to compete on the world stage. These shoes bring out the best in my playing style, such as making moves to the back and using that split-second of speed to get to the ball before my opponent. I hope to overcome the challenges I faced while overseas and evolve into a new me with these shoes." The nine models in the "Basara" series, including the "Basara 001 TC," will be available at Mizuno soccer retailers nationwide from July 12th.
